Worldwide cosmetic company, AVON, have announced that they have put an end to testing their products on animals across all markets.

AVON was the first major cosmetics company to end animal testing for their products 30 years ago. They have collaborated with companies globally to develop and implement scientifically validated and cruelty-free alternatives for product safety evaluation.

However, AVON hadn’t quite been honest with their customers and this came about when the brand joined the Humane Society International’s #BeCrueltyFree campaign back in April 2019. The campaign proposes a worldwide ban on animal testing for beauty products by 2023. It was found that AVON still did business in China, where the law states all cosmetics imported in to the country must be tested on animals.

To clarify, Avon said

“We are optimistic that Avon’s influence as a leading global cosmetics company can help advance the Chinese government’s acceptance of non-animal testing methods with the goal of ending animal testing. We work in partnership with organizations that are developing new approaches to product safety evaluation that don’t use animals, as well as with personal care products industry associations.”
